Kochs' Grand Prize Barbers' Chairs

MEDALS AWARDED

ST. LOUIS 1904

portland 1905 omaha 1898 buffalo 1901

paris 1900 Chicago" ....... 1893 nashville 1897

KOCHS' BARBERS' CHAIRS have gained a world-wide reputation for all that quality implies.
Beauty of design, durability of construction, superiority of workmanship and finish have made them the
most popular barbers' chairs of any in the market.
The quarter-sawed oak used in the manufacture of these chairs is of the choicest selection. It is thoroughly
air-seasoned and £f7n-drieJ, and every piece for the framework of the chair is carefully examined as to its fitness
to bear the unusual strain to which a barbers' chair is subjected.

The finish is of the very best, possessing that hard and lasting surface which will not crack or lose its
luster. It is done by men of experience, using only the best materials, and the various coats are applied only
after previous coats have had ample time to dry and harden.

The upholstery is done with the greatest care, for barbers' chairs must stand unusual wear and none but
the highest grade of material is therefore used. Springs of extra quality, oil-tempered and especially made for
the purpose, are used to produce cushions which will not lose shape, and the leather, plush and trimmings for
the covering are the very best.

The mechanism for revolving, reclining and raising and lowering is simple and accurate. Kochs' Hydraulic

Barbers' Chairs are the most convenient chairs for
the barber to operate, because the raising and low-
ering mechanism is controlled by a foot-treadle.
Placed behind the chair the foot-treadle is always
in convenient position and the chair can therefore
be raised or lowered from an\) side.

Kochs' Hydraulic Chairs are constructed on
truly hydraulic principles. There is nothing to
get out of order, and the raising and lowering is
accomplished without the use of ratchets, cogs or
springs. The machinery is the most simple, the
most durable, the most accurate and reliable
made.

The single-arm footrest is a feature which has

proven very popular. There is nothing in the way

of the customer in stepping in or out of the chair,

and it is absolutely just as strong as

the old-fashioned two-arm footrest.

Kochs' Barbers' Chairs are positively
and unreservedly guaranteed in every
particular. They are made in the larg-
est factory of its kind in the world, an
experience of over thirty years guiding
every point of their construction, and it
is simply impossible to make barbers'
chairs which are better.

KOCHS' UNIVERSAL HEAD-REST ATTACHMENT

ECONOMICAL — SANITARY — PRACTICAL

This attachment is the latest and most practical head-rest attachment out; it is not complicated, but simple in construction and
very durable. The paper roll is contained in a compact holder attached under the front of head-rest, over which the paper is held
firm by the clamp and cutter attached to the back of head-rest. Both parts fit very closely to the head-rest and, therefore, are not in
the way of the barber, as is the case when a large and bulky tube is attached to the back of the head-rest. The paper is held tight,
which does away with the annoyance of the paper being shifted and ruffled up every time the head of the customer, is moved. The
clamp and cutter can be operated with one hand and the nuisance of the paper getting ttuck or choked up in the cutter, as is the
case with other attachments of this kind, is entirely eliminated. All parts are made of rolled steel and highly nickel-plated. The paper
roll is wound very tight, so as to take as little space as possible, and each roll contains a sufficient number of sheets for 100 customers.
The paper furnished is a bond paper made especially for this purpose ; is very strong and will retain its toughness even when moist
with lather when used as shaving paper. This attachment is never leased or rented, but sold outright, and after you have bought it,
it is your property.

Price of attachment, consisting of holder and cutter, including three rolls of paper, each $1.00

KOCHS' SPRING
CUSHION HEAD-REST

Design patented.
Patents applied for.

CLEAN— SANITARY— COMFORTABLE

The illustrations to the right and left show

an entirely new and practical departure in the

construction of head-rests. It is made entirely

of steel and brass, highly polished and nickel-
plated and equipped with our Universal head-
rest attachment, illustrated above. The cush-
ion is covered with leather and rests on spiral

springs which extend in parallel lines from one

side of the head-rest to the other, giving a soft

resilient effect which is extremely comfortable

to the customer. The paper roll is attached in

such a manner as to become part of the head-
rest and thus be completely out of the way. The

inner part of the head-rest is all open ; there

are no corners to gather dust, which makes it

clean and sanitary in every way. This head-
rest is adjustable forward and backward, which

adds greatly to the comfort of the customer,

and it is raised and lowered in the usual way.

The stem is made of steel and this runs in a

perfect fitting metal slide, which holds it rigid

and firm in any position. The upper part is

constructed so that it can be easily tipped back

and be out of the way for hair-cutting without

removing it from the chair; see illustration in

lower left-hand corner. This head-rest can be

arranged to fit any barber chair ; all that we

require to know is the exact size of the wood

slat or stem attached to your head-rest, where-
upon we can furnish a new slat of the same size

containing the metal slide referred to above.

This slat can then be put in the back of the

chair and held in place by a small nail or screw,

or for all Kochs' chairs we can furnish a new

metal plate to fit the new steel stem and which

will hold the wood slat in place and make it

invisible at the same time.

Illustration in lower left-hand corner shows

the head-rest tipped back and out of the way

for hair-cutting.

Illustration in the lower right-hand corner

shows it in position for shaving.

vibration transmitted to the opera-
tor's arm.

with easy-running double castors.

The celebrated No. 1 Vibrassage

ity of the motor and general design,
makes this, without a doubt, the
most efficient and perfect cabinet ma-

plug.

The No. 2 vibrassage handle fur-
nished with this machine combines
extreme 'lightness with strength and
durability.

This makes a very desirable outfit,
and at the moderate price at which
it is sold, represents the greatest
value ever offered in a stand-type
machine.

applicators, one jar vibrassage cream

THE CHAMPION VIBRATOR

As its name implies, the new Portable Vibrator is without a peer, and in its construction are embodied all the good features for
which the Vibrassage machines are noted.

The character of vibration or stroke is the same as in the No. 1 Vibrassage handle, and this can be easily regulated by degrees
indicated on a visible scale from very mild to very strong.

The motor is so powerful that it is impossible to stop it even with heavy pressure, and there is no vibration transmitted to the
operator's arm. This machine weighs but three pounds and is without a doubt the most powerful, and for the barber, most perfect
portable vibrator in the market.

A set of six applicators, one jar Vibrassage cream and illustrated text-book on vibratory massage is furnished with this machine.
Price for direct or alternating current $45.00

PORCELA

An ideal cleaner for use in Barber Shops.

For enameled-iron washstands, bathtubs and marble, Por-
cela as a cleaning compound has no superior. The delicate
enamel on this ware should never be cleaned with gritty soaps,
as these destroy the lustre and smoothness by grinding the dirt
and smoothness away at the same time. Porcela wipes dirt,
iron rust or lime stains away and does not injure the lustre or
polish. Put up in half-pound packages.

GRINDING DEPARTMENT

We particularly solicit your patronage in this department and are prepared to promptly and satisfactorily execute your orders.
The work is done by men who are expert in razor concaving and in the grinding of shears and clippers, and positive satisfaction is
bound to be the result. We are always particular to return tools sent to us for repair just as promptly as possible, and there is no
delay beyond the time necessary to proper workmanship.

CHARGES FOR GRINDING

Razors ground plain 25c.

Razors reground 35c.

Razors half concave 35c.

Razors three-quarter concave 40c.

Razors full concave 50c.

Razors reduce shank 10c.

Razors heel out 10c.

Shears ground 25c.

Shears corrugated 25c.

Shears ground and new screw 35c.

New screw in shears 15c.

Clippers ground, all kinds 50c.

Horse clippers ground 75c.

Tailor shears ground 10c. to 75c.

For reducing large razors to smaller sizes, or for grinding razors that have been purposely hacked or broken, there will be an
extra charge of 10 to 15 cents, considerable time and attention being required for this class of work.

DIRECTIONS. — Razors are mailable if the razor is securely bound with wire so the blade can not open. The safest way to
send grinding is by express. In sending unsealed packages of razors or other tools by mail, do not enclose any writing in the package,
but send full directions by letter. Write your name and address on the outside of the package. We frequently receive a package with-
out any name or address marked upon it, and nothing to indicate who sent it. Delays naturally occur, until we can discover who the
sender is.

If tools are to be returned by mail a sufficient amount for return postage should always be remitted — 3 cents for razors, 4 cents
for shears, 12 cents for clippers.

No. 834. SANITARY BATH BRUSH

This bath brush is particularly adapted for use in public bath rooms. It will outlast any ordinary bath brush as it can be dried
more thoroughly and more quickly. This bath brush is made with a perforated and hollow back through which the water is con-
ducted to the bristles when in use, and when drying the air has unobstructed access into the interior of the back and to the base of
the bristles through these perforations. This is of great advantage as to sanitary value and durability. The perforations are reen-
forced with metal and the bristles are good. The handle of the brush is detachable. Patented in the United States, Canada and other
countries.
